Which color for our bedroom??

This is our room before- kinda blah

These colors are approximate because I used a paint program Scott has and the colors aren't quite what I would want... but what do you think??

Random Makenna happenings

So a couple days ago we found this freaky caterpillar in our backyard. Every time Kenna touched it, it opened up its back to look like a smile...
will you please wipe that smirk off your face? kind of freaky!

Makenna loves exploring our backyard. We've got lizards, grasshoppers, and crickets galore. I think we should open up a zoo. Makenna loves finding them and trying to catch them.
so I had to include this picture because this is the first nap she has taken in about 3 months! Heaven help me! That's a rough transition I tell ya, going from 3 hour daily naps to NO nap! Let me just say it gets rough sometimes for both of us! I love how she fell asleep with books.

I had to include another Makenna drawing... I know I know who cares?! ME! So here it is! She did this picture and MOM by herself I kid you not. Mom is the first word she has learned to write- booya Scott!

Our 7 month old

I took baby Jace to the doctor yesterday for a check-up. He's still a little monster weighing in at 20 lbs, and 28.5 inches! So he's a big kid for his age. We are just in love with our little chubbs. He just got his first tooth about 2 weeks ago, and has been sitting up by himself for about a month now. Any day now he will start crawling, but in the meantime he manages to get himself all over the place by rolling or scooting across the floor. He loves playing with his big sister Kenna, but is not so fond of her trying to pick him up! She still makes him laugh more than anyone else can and it's so fun to see that brother/sister bond. We love our little man!

Makenna Mae Lee turns THREE

waking up to her princess bike

We had a fun time going to ABQ Jump with cousin Brody. What kid wouldn't LOVE that?!

We just had cupcakes and opened presents as a family... because the next day we had a birthday party planned for her!
We started out making birthday crowns!
a little pin the tail on the donkey (wish I would have gotten pics of them actually DOING it!)

Yum birthday cake! We had 12 kids there! (yes I'm a little crazy!)

I love how all the kids crowd around her waiting in anticipation as she opens each present!
and a pinata to top it off!

A little duck duck goose action

Almost every present she got was a princess/dress-up type thing. She was in heaven! Here she is after the party putting on all her cute stuff.

We can't believe our little girl is 3! We love our little girly girl. Every day she makes us smile with her bubbly outgoing personality. We feel so blessed to be her parents!

First day of [joy] school!

Ahhh, I'm so excited Makenna is doing joy school! I totally did joy school when I was a kid and it was the highlight of my little kid life! She is going to love it!

her amazing piece of artwork- I remember doing one of these myself!

Guess who???

Scott and I decided to stay an extra day in California, and guess who was in our ward at church? We weren't sure it was her at first because she looked a little like this... but I just have to say that since most people were white, she stuck out like a sore thumb anyways!

Gladys Knight!! How cool is that? I felt like leaving on a midnight train to Georgia when I saw her there. har har

we also got to see BFF Megan
Don't y'all love her hair?!

Grandpa Bob

Makenna and sis Jaclyn
My cool older cousins that let me tag along when I was little :D
Most of the Sheffields

So now to the whole reason we came down... for good ol' grandpa Bob. We will miss him so much. He was an amazing person. He married my grandma when I was 2, and inherited 6 kids, and what ended up to be 42 grandchildren, and a bunch of great grandchildren. He was 90 years old and up until 2 months ago was still working as a chemist. To add onto the sadness, the house in Pasadena overlooking the Rose Bowl, is going to be sold. My cousins and I enjoyed a last visit there talking about old times and memories there- just thinking about it gets me a little choked up... so I'll leave it at that. If you can read blogs in heaven, I love you grandpa Bob! Thank you for being an amazing grandpa, dad, and husband- you have been an angel to our family. I don't know if you knew what you were signing up for when you fell in love with the little old lady from Pasadena, but it has meant the world to us. We miss you.

Some beach...

Reunited at Disneyland!

Our best friends, the Becks, happened to be in California when we went down there so we decided to meet up with them at Disneyland!! Let me just say it was probably the best day of Makenna's existence. The Becks left in the afternoon, but my mom and sister Kara came as soon as school got out and we had a great time with them. Scott and I even got to enjoy a couple rides without kids!

I am the tan one...

Ok, so get ready to see some of the best smiles you have ever seen from Makenna.... I seriously have never seen her so happy! As many of you know she is way into the whole princess thing these days, so to actually see one in person she was in heaven!

Grandma spoiled her with this cute hat

A picture of a picture! That's my sister in the front. I am third person being blocked by Kara's hand!
