A new do

So this is sad, but this is Makenna's first real hair cut! The only ever time I cut it was when she was a few months old and it was looking a little too mullet-like...

For some reason these pictures are not showing how bad it really was. You can kind of see from this pic how short it was... in one place it was only about 2 inches in the back!

Ready for her hair cut!

My friend Kim saved the day! She came right over and cut it so cute! Thank you thank you thank you!

It's still crazy to see her with short hair!

OH NO!!!

The girl just cut gobs of hair off her head!!! This is what I get for blogging while Makenna is awake... Crap! I guess the next time you see her she will have a shorter hair-do.
Luckily the shorter pieces are in the bangs area... After I told her we would have to cut her hair short, she got all sad... go figure!

You can see a couple pieces are taken off the back. I'm going to miss that hair!! Alright, now I really gotta get back to being a mommy!

Love the fall

Having fun in the backyard... For those who have been asking, here is a pic of the near-finished project. There are still a few things that need to be done (fill up the planters and plant flowers, a couple of boulders, a possible sandbox, finishing touches on our firepit patio) but it's pretty much there. Excuse the random stepping stones strewn about.

a little reminder of what we had to deal with when we moved in. The fence is a dog-run.

I took this pic back in August

Baby Jace got his first real injury a couple days ago- poor guy was burned on his hand by the oven. A little update since he's changed a lot lately... he is clapping, waving, saying "mama" and "yayy," and he's getting his two front teeth in (which has made for a hard last few days.) He's still scooting all over, but he's super fast now, so I guess he feels that works for him! Love my little guy!

what the...

So you guys know about the prop 8 in California that banned gay marriage? Well now there are protesters outside of LDS temples... They are blaming LDS church members for passing proposition 8, even though LDS church members make up 2% of the population in California. Last time I checked they live in a democracy and the majority of the people voted yes on 8. To read about the protest click here . If you want to get really TO'd, watch the videos under the article! This is an article written by Meridian Magazine here

{AUTUMN}

We went to the aquarium and botanical gardens the other day with some friends, and the highlight was definitely the amazing leaves we found. The kids had a blast making huge piles of leaves and jumping in them. Jace had a blast eating them... I'm so glad we got to have a real fall experience!

It's statistics time!

I know you all love hearing the stats of my children... :) Well you are going to have to deal because this is not only my blog, but my journal. If I don't write it here I will have no record! So we took Jace to his 9 month check-up and he still weighs 20 lbs, same as at 7 months, so the boy is starting to thin out! He's now 50% for weight. His height is 30 inches which is still at about 95%, and his noggin is up in the 95% too. Well he finally got his second tooth about a week or two ago, so now he's not such a snaggle tooth. He doesn't talk much which is a huge difference from his sister, miss talkative. Once in a while he says baba or dada, but he's content to just keep quiet. Besides that he's just all over the place, getting into everything, and eating anything he can get his hands on. Basically he's the bomb.com

An exciting video

Ok, maybe I'm the only one who thinks it's an exciting video. I thought I would post Jace's scooting skills and his love for his ball. :)

A significant week I would say

Not loving this picture, but it's the only one I got of the two of them!

We had a fun Halloween. I gave in and let Makenna go trick-or-treating to our neighbors. You would not believe how much candy this little girl has. I think people give more candy to little kids! More for us... :) I mean, what?

Now on to voting. I think this election has been the craziest of any election I can remember (which to be honest, isn't a lot!). It seems this time more than ever that voting is so critical, and the people and things we are voting for have more repercussion than ever before. I am especially proud of the church in California in the way they are standing up for the yes on prop 8 campaign. My own mother has been out on the streets more than once with a Yes on Prop 8 sign (which is not like her). Apparently the people of California are pretty segregated on this issue. That is another scary thing is the segregation in our country right now. It seems our country is so divided and there is so much hatred on both sides. I am a little fearful of the way these elections will turn out and how much different our country could be a year from now...

On a lighter note we have our brand new church building that we met in for the first time today! It is the EXACT same as my parents new building for those that have been in there. We are the only ward in it right now which is just lovely! We need all the space we can get though with having 4 nurseries and about 3 of each primary class!
