Makenna Mae Lee turns THREE

waking up to her princess bike

We had a fun time going to ABQ Jump with cousin Brody. What kid wouldn't LOVE that?!

We just had cupcakes and opened presents as a family... because the next day we had a birthday party planned for her!
We started out making birthday crowns!
a little pin the tail on the donkey (wish I would have gotten pics of them actually DOING it!)

Yum birthday cake! We had 12 kids there! (yes I'm a little crazy!)

I love how all the kids crowd around her waiting in anticipation as she opens each present!
and a pinata to top it off!

A little duck duck goose action

Almost every present she got was a princess/dress-up type thing. She was in heaven! Here she is after the party putting on all her cute stuff.

We can't believe our little girl is 3! We love our little girly girl. Every day she makes us smile with her bubbly outgoing personality. We feel so blessed to be her parents!

First day of [joy] school!

Ahhh, I'm so excited Makenna is doing joy school! I totally did joy school when I was a kid and it was the highlight of my little kid life! She is going to love it!

her amazing piece of artwork- I remember doing one of these myself!

Guess who???

Scott and I decided to stay an extra day in California, and guess who was in our ward at church? We weren't sure it was her at first because she looked a little like this... but I just have to say that since most people were white, she stuck out like a sore thumb anyways!

Gladys Knight!! How cool is that? I felt like leaving on a midnight train to Georgia when I saw her there. har har

we also got to see BFF Megan
Don't y'all love her hair?!

Grandpa Bob

So now to the whole reason we came down... for good ol' grandpa Bob. We will miss him so much. He was an amazing person. He married my grandma when I was 2, and inherited 6 kids, and what ended up to be 42 grandchildren, and a bunch of great grandchildren. He was 90 years old and up until 2 months ago was still working as a chemist. To add onto the sadness, the house in Pasadena overlooking the Rose Bowl, is going to be sold. My cousins and I enjoyed a last visit there talking about old times and memories there- just thinking about it gets me a little choked up... so I'll leave it at that. If you can read blogs in heaven, I love you grandpa Bob! Thank you for being an amazing grandpa, dad, and husband- you have been an angel to our family. I don't know if you knew what you were signing up for when you fell in love with the little old lady from Pasadena, but it has meant the world to us. We miss you.

Some beach...

Reunited at Disneyland!

Our best friends, the Becks, happened to be in California when we went down there so we decided to meet up with them at Disneyland!! Let me just say it was probably the best day of Makenna's existence. The Becks left in the afternoon, but my mom and sister Kara came as soon as school got out and we had a great time with them. Scott and I even got to enjoy a couple rides without kids!

I am the tan one...

Ok, so get ready to see some of the best smiles you have ever seen from Makenna.... I seriously have never seen her so happy! As many of you know she is way into the whole princess thing these days, so to actually see one in person she was in heaven!

Grandma spoiled her with this cute hat
